課程概述

The content of the course consists of four modules:
(1) Overview and concepts
(2) Cognitive approaches and behavioral research theories
(3) Information behavior models & perspectives
(4) User behavior metrics and analytics
Assignments include a review of a theoretical framework relevant to user behavior, a review of a research study relevant to user behavior, a review of a type of empirical metrics relevant to usability and user behavior research, and finally, a term project. The term project will be a small scale user behavior research study that students carry out through the semester.
 

課程目標
透過本課程的學習,同學可以:
1. Master the theoretical underpinning for user behavior research which involves cognitive psychology, social psychology and behavior analysis
2. Master various models of information behavior and different approaches in examining user behavior from the perspective of everyday information seeking, information encountering, and more.
3. Understand various empirical measures of usability and user behavior research, and master at least one type of usability metrics that would be relevant to the students’ own research interest
4. Capable of conducting user behavior research and thereby build a foundation for dissertation level research design, data collection and analysis
 
課程要求
The class contains four written assignments, one mid-term report, and one semester?long research study project as the term project.
